Speckled Trout Fishing
Early spring is an optimal time of year to pursue sea trout. Look for them in expansive weed flats. Since sea trout are ambush predators they like to hang in pockets beneath the weeds awaiting their prey. Using a popping cork with live shrimp is a surefire way to catch them––the popping action brings fish out of the weeds and the live shrimp will get them to bite. Wind can be tough this time of year, so be sure to spool up with 10- to 20- pound PowerPro to maximize your casting distance. A Fluorocarbon leader is a must.
